Hub Lunch on Blogging & Social Media

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Blogging &social media

Yesteday we had our second Hub lunch event. It was a great success, a lot of people came (members, friends of the Hub and also some new faces!). Mira Bangel and Oihana Gómez gave us simple and effective explanations about blogging & social media and a wide overview on benefits & challenges of these tools in business.

Mira showed us some best-practise examples on how to blog as a business and how to engage with e-fluencials. On the other hand, Oihana shared some insights of how to manage the information flow through the different communication platforms in the net.

You can see the pictures of the event here.

You can also watch this video that Jean Yves-Huwart made to Mira  after her presentation[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_wVOvsbvCM]

"Become a presentation Zen master" workshop and tutorial with Pascal Van Cauwenberghe and Stien Michiels.

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Our friends Pascal van Cauwenberghe and Stien Michiels will give the following workshop at the Hub on February 12th :

Become a presentation Zen master.

Are you afraid of speaking to an audience? Do you want to get your
message across? Do you want to explain your ideas? Do you want to
spread the knowledge you gained? Do you want to become a better
story-teller? Do you want to become a better presenter, but don’t know
how to start?

Come and play with us. Try out different presentation techniques.Become a presentation Zen master.First, we will show you some examples of different presenters and
presentation styles.Analyse the style, the delivery, the content. Extract the strong points. Then, it’s up to you.

* You create a Zen presentation in small groups. Experiment with the
different presentation styles and delivery techniques.
* Each group delivers their presentation and gets feedback from the
other participants.
* Each group improves their presentation and delivery. A good
presentation is 10% inspiration and 90% rework and rehearsal.
* Each group presents their improved presentation.
* We debrief and discuss what we learned

No previous experience or skill required. Everyone can become a
presentation Zen master. It will be a mixture of tutorial and workshop and people who are already advanced presenters can share their experiences with the group as well.

Note: each group needs one computer with presentation software. We will
provide a few computers; bring along your laptop if you can.

Beginning time : The event will start at 06.30.pm and will last approximately two hours.

About the speakers : Pascal Van Cauwenberghe

I’m an IT consultant, active in all sorts of sectors for the past 15
years. I use Agile software development, Lean, Systems Thinking, Theory
of Constraints and lots of other thinking tools to try to solve more
problems than I create.

As a trainer, speaker at conferences and conference organizer I have
seen (and made) my share of boring presentations. Life’s too short to be
bored. One of my missions in life is to make all presentations,
everywhere, fun and interesting. Come to this session to help me achieve
this goal. And to have fun, of course.

Stien Michiels

Why do people do things the way they do? And what prevents them from doing them differently, even when the way they do things now is not working, frustrating or even stressful? How can I help them to turn down the noise of their minds and tune in to the music of their own strengths, the strengths of others and the interaction between them? How can I help them to see this very moment for what it really is: a ‘present’?

These are questions I keep asking myself over and over again. These are the questions that made me become a trainer, a facilitator, a coach in the fields of communication, creativity and personal development. My background? The inspiration and many insights from others who over the years – thankfully – crossed my path. My tools? Ears, eyes, intuition, emotion, heart, ideas, words, images, energy, enthousiasm, open-mindedness, love, tears, laughther, a good sense of humour and all kinds of experiences through life. Yours and mine.

Looking forward to sharing this ‘present’ation experience with you!
